Content Standards
Gemixx Design Studio · Bead Catalog · Design Tool
Version 2026-10-02 · part of the Terms of Service (Section 5(m))
Gemixx designs go into family homes and onto the shelves of family retailers. Everything made, named, typed or said in Gemixx Design Studio must be suitable for a general, family audience — the level of daytime broadcast television and of a brand-safe retail catalogue.
1. Where these standards apply
- Everything you type or say — Design by talking (voice and text), project, version and collection names, notes, messages to Gemixx, selection-sheet notes, tech-pack fields and share links.
- The designs themselves — bead patterns, shapes, motifs, and any words, letters or symbols spelled out in beads.
- Images the Studio produces — HD studio photos show products only: no people, no text, no props.
2. Not allowed
- Profanity and crude language, including disguised spellings (f*ck, sh1t, f.u.c.k) and abusive slang — in any language.
- Sexual content and nudity — nude or partly clothed figures, body parts, silhouettes or shapes with a sexual meaning, adult or innuendo themes, and products designed for adult venues or adult entertainment.
- Hate and harassment — slurs, hate symbols, extremist imagery, and anything that demeans people for who they are.
- Graphic violence, gore and self-harm.
- Illegal drugs and weapons presented approvingly.
Fine — and common in our work
Colour names such as nude, blush, flesh-tone or "naked" glass · cocktail picks, bar and wine accessories · tasteful seasonal themes (Halloween skulls, Día de Muertos, harvest) · cultural and religious festivals (Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Lunar New Year) · romance and wedding themes (hearts, lovebirds).
Not fine
Anything above, however it's phrased · words or symbols in beads that would be bleeped or blurred on daytime TV · "joke" or novelty designs built around innuendo · a name or note you wouldn't want printed on a retail swing tag.
3. How the Studio applies them
- Automatic screening. What you type or say is checked before it is saved or sent: first against a list of unambiguous terms, then — for meaning in context — by an AI moderation model run by our service provider (OpenAI). Words that are innocent in this trade (for example "nude pink" or "cocktail") are judged in context, not banned outright.
- The design assistant follows these standards: it won't use crude language or design anything outside them, and offers a tasteful alternative instead.
- If something is blocked, nothing is saved or sent and you're asked to rephrase. The fact that something was blocked (the type of issue and where — not the text itself) is recorded in your account's activity history (Terms, Section 10.3). Repeated attempts pause the design assistant for a while.
- Review. Gemixx may rename or remove names, notes or designs that don't meet these standards and may suspend access for repeated or deliberate breaches (Terms, Section 19).
4. Standards we follow
Gemixx applies the strictest common ground of these recognised broadcast and brand-safety standards, at all hours and in every market:
United States — Federal Communications Commission rules on obscene, indecent and profane broadcasts (18 U.S.C. § 1464): obscene content is never allowed, and indecent or profane content is kept out of the hours when children may be watching. We apply that daytime standard at all times. The TV Parental Guidelines "TV-G — General Audience" level (no strong language, little or no sexual dialogue or situations) is our reference point for tone.
United Kingdom — Ofcom Broadcasting Code, Section One (Protecting the Under-Eighteens) and Section Two (Harm and Offence), as applied before the 9 pm watershed; and Ofcom's research Public attitudes to offensive language on TV and radio (2021): words audiences rate as strong or strongest are not acceptable here.
India — the Programme Code under the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 (Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995), which bars content that is obscene, offends good taste or decency, or denigrates women, communities or religions.
Brand safety — the Brand Safety Floor of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (World Federation of Advertisers), used across retail and advertising to keep brands away from adult and explicit sexual content, obscenity and profanity, hate speech, and graphic or harmful content.
These references describe the level of content Gemixx accepts; they are not a claim that the Studio is itself regulated as a broadcaster.
